Guilty or Not
Just suppose here in America there had risen a great persecution of the Christian people and I had been arrested, would there be evidence enough to convict me. Or would I be set free for lack of evidence to prove I am a Christian? True, I confessed to being a Christian, but is there evidence to sub stain this claim or confession?
First, my family would be questioned as to whether my ways at home will give them any evidence. Next, my neighbors would be questioned as to my conduct in my community. Rom 12:17-18 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. 18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, lie peaceable with all men. 21 Be not overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
Would my life as a whole measure up to be producing the fruit or works of the Spirit as Gal 5:22-23 records? But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, gentleness, goodness, faithfulness, meekness, temperance against such there is no law. This list gives us a true picture of what a Christianís personality should be.
Next would my works convict me or set me free? Mark 16:17-18 And these signs shall follow those who believe: In my name shall they cast out devils, they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents and if they drink any deadly thing it shall not hurt them. They shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover.
1st Peter 2:12 Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles, that whereas they speak against you as evil doers they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation. Also even our clothes would be considered as evidence as to whether we even dress decent and look like a Christian. Deut 22:5 The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a womans garment for all that do so are abomination unto the Lord thy God.
1 Tim 2:19 In like manner, also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel with shamefacedness and sobriety, not with braided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array. Also presented as evidence would be the places we go. Whether they are places of wordly amusements for pleasure or do we got to church and have Christian fellowship together? 2 Cor 6:17 Wherefore, come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.
Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is , but exorting one another, and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
Lets each of us take thought today if I were on trial would I be proven guilty of bring Christ like or would I be set free.
