Do You Know? Holy Ghost, For ME?   God's Yellow Pages

Many people ask the question, “What is the Holy Ghost?”  It is that comforter that Jesus spoke of in   John 14:16 when he said, “And I will pray the father and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever.”

Now just who was this “Comforter” for?  Peter said in Acts 2:39, “For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord, our God shall call.”  So my friend, we can see by this promise Holy Ghost or Comforter is to all people whom God has called.

You may say, you mean it is just for the preacher?  No, it is for everyone who has repented and been baptized according to what Peter said in Acts 2:38.  He told the people who wanted to know how to receive what the disciples had received to repent and be baptized in water in order to receive this promise.   We know it is for us today.  We are the “ones who are afar off” in Acts 2:38 that the Lord has called to repentance.

You may wonder why do I need the Holy Ghost?  Jesus said I John 16:13 “when he was come He would guide you into all truth. “  He said we would receive power to be witnesses according to Acts 1:8.  In Eph 4:30 it states we are sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise to the day of redemption.  In plain language we are sealed with the Holy Ghost till Jesus returns for his own.

Now you know we all need the Holy Ghost and it is for us but how can you receive it?  Some people in the early church received the baptism of the Holy Ghost even before they were baptized in water.  They had repented of their sins and believed on the Lord Jesus Christ.  An example of this was Cornelius’ household in Acts 11:44-46.

In Acts 2 the disciples about 120 were all in the upper room in one accord waiting and expecting he promise. So my friend we find according to these scriptures in order to receive this promise we must pray and expect to receive.

Now you are wondering how do I know when I have received this Holy GhIn Acts 2:4 the disciples spoke in other tongues (language that is not their own) as the spirit gave them utterance.  In Acts 19:6, when Paul laid hands on believers at Corinth they spoke in tongues and prophesied.

Throughout the Bible when believers received the Holy Ghost they spoke in a language, not their own native tongue, and magnified and praised God.  When you receive the Holy Ghost you will do the same thing the disciples did.

Friend it is for you now.  Begin praying and believing and receive it right now.
