My Family TreeEvery so often we find something that catches our interest. Lately that has been my family tree. I have wanted to know more about my ancestors especially my maternal ones. So of course that is where my focus has been. I always had a lot of info on my grandpa's family on my mothers side (someone did a lot of research back in the 70's) but very little little was known about my granny's family on my moms side. So that is and has been my focus for the time being. I occasionally will dig around in other branches (mainly my husband's grandfathers since it is a brick wall) but for now my interest is in the Baldwins and the Hales. I know that the Baldwin branch I came from had some interesting folks on it. For example, one of my grandmother's brothers was shot by a jealous husband. He had been fooling around with the man's wife. My great grandfather was hung by a moonshiner but didn't die from it. My great great grandpa was a Captain in the Confederate army. One of the relatives I have came across had his wife leave with the doctor who delivered their twins. My grandmother worked as a cook in the logging camps and my great grandmother was burned to death in a brush fire when my grandmother was still very small. Another relative was said to have lit his cigars with $5 bills. As you can tell I've ran across some interesting stories and always interested to learn more. So if you have any information on descendents of Capt Jacob Baldwin, originally from Ashe county NC area I'd love to hear from you. Another brick wall at this time is a Joseph Hale married to a Annie (or similar name) Smith and was the father of Samuel A. Hale of the Sullivan county TN area who was born in Sullivan county in the mid 1870's, so if you have any connection to either of these I would love to hear from you. He (Samuel) had a brother Robert who we know had a child Andrew Franklin Hale and a sister named Jincy who married a Wilson and stayed in the Bristol area all their lives as far as I know. Any info on any of these folks would be greatly appreciated.
