Stages

A child's skinned knee, a bruise on the arm
Falling down steps, there's so little harm
He can't play good enough, he didn't make the team
To a child its a crisis no matter how it seems

The first broken heart, the boy didn't call
She's only twelve, she should be playing ball.
The next day its over, she's on to someone new
Again the story happens, she comes home all blue.

The first true love comes around
They've dated for more than a year
The promises have now been broken
She no longer seems to care

Graduation night the world is fresh
A whole new life will begin
Childhood is now over
Left behind so many high school friends

College, a career, or maybe just a job
To each they have their own plan
For some its marriage, others its service
To benefit the country and man

As each new step is entered into
A bit more child is left behind
The tiny crisis of the childhood days
No longer lingers in the mind

As an adult we walk many paths
And learn more and more every day
But we must always remember
There's a child inside who needs to play.

To return to the days of long ago
When there was no worry of tomorrow
To live in the now, the joy is found
In this there will be no sorrow.
