America: Love it or Leave it
Have you ever stopped and thought just what a good place America is to live? Sure we have a lot of crime and such but so does everywhere else. Look around at the world today. How many countries actually have the freedom to worship as we do? America was founded by people who wanted religious freedom. Well we have it we can choose to worship God or not. We are not forced to worship a God we don't believe in and we are not martyred for our beliefs as is common in some other countries today. We have the ability to make something of ourselves if we want it. The American dream is still alive for those who want to succeed. A nice house and nice car is not unattainable here (although it is difficult in a lot of cases). We have the right to choose who our rulers are, they are not forced on us as in countries where a dictator has forced his way into power. By exercising our right to vote we can tell the government what we think and what our desires are. You may say my vote don't count but then if everyone thought that way then there would be no majority rule. Its true it don't count for much in a million votes but in the smaller elections it can sometimes make the difference in a candidate winning or losing. However if you will get involved that one vote that you cast can make a difference regardless of who you vote for. Christians have sat back for too long and said it don't matter let the big organizations take care of that. Well guess what? Those big organizations started out small too and by people working got others involved and grew. If you have something you feel needs done in your community get involved and see about getting it done. If you don't vote and you don't get involved then you have no reason to complain about how anything is done. We have the right to privacy in our doings. In some countries the government comes in and seize whatever that want and throw you in prison on the word of anyone. Here in America we don't see that happening (at least not yet). America is a melting pot of many cultures. It was formed by many cultures and is what it is today because of the influence of all those ancestors of all of us many years ago. So regardless of how you stand on issues or how you feel on any of the problems of America just remember it is made up of people just like you and if you won't vote and get involved and try to make a difference then you have no one to blame but yourself. |
