Where we are
Supporting our work
Knowing What God Expects of US
How do we know what God wants us to do? The best way is to
have God tell us what he wants us to do. Here lies the
problem. Most people can talk to God but very few can hear
what God is saying to them.
God has a different plan for everyoneís life. Imagine you see a large tree limb fall on a 7 year old child. The child is trapped and having trouble breathing. What do you do? You have no way of knowing how long the child will survive or how badly they are hurt. Moving the limb can help the child breath but it could allow internal injuries to get worse and cause them to die. If you wait for professional help to arrive the child may stop breathing and die. What if the limb is so heavy that when you start lifting it you drop it back on the child and cause death. The only way to be sure you make the right decision is for God to tell us what to do.
Most people ask ďHow do I know its God talking and not just me? In John 10:4-5 it says ďAnd when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.Ē You must spend lots of time having conversations with God in order to learn to tell his voice from your own or a demonís. You can't expect to learn his voice in a couple of days. It takes weeks of day after day talking with God to get confident you know his voice. Satan can do a very good job imitating Godís voice but you can tell them apart.
Once you have learned Godís voice then you can learn Godís will for you. You can know his will for your future and what he wants you to do day to day. Even when you know what Godís will is, it doesnít mean that it will be done. Many people believe that Godís will is always done but 2 Peter 3:9 tell us that the Lord is ďnot willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentanceĒ. Even though it is Godís will for all to be saved it is still our choice to follow Godís will or not. So many people choose not to do what God wants them to do. Most people that call themselves Christians don't ask God what he wants them to do or not do.
You can be as close to God as you want to be. Nothing is too small to ask God about. The next time you get hungry and you can't decide what to eat ask God and let him decide for you
Have a blessed day
